Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) is Scotland’s Youth Employment Strategy which aims to develop a skilled workforce for Scotland’s future.
We strive to embed employer engagement into the curriculum to help ensure our young people are best prepared for the world of work.

DYW Offer
DYW can help young people understand the world of work, feel prepared to make choices for their next steps and understand how their subjects relate to jobs and careers. DYW supports young people to get involved in:
- Foundation, Modern and Graduate Apprenticeships
- Work PLacements
- Employability Sessions
- Mentoring Programmes
- Events such as career fairs, mok interviews, workplace visits
Parents can support their child by getting involved in:
- Parent and Carer Events
- Career, Job and Apprenticeship Events
- Programmes and Initiatives
- Employer offer through SDS Marketplace
DYW supports the school to link with industry and encourages young people to identify and explore opportunities that help them feel more informed and inspired about their post-school options, while also equipping them with the tools that they will need to seize these opportunities.
