History at Holy Rood RC High School

History engages learners of all ages, interests and abilities. Studying history develops a coherent and balanced understanding of Scottish, British, European and World history. Through examining the past, pupils can better understand their own  to our communities and wider society.

The skills, knowledge and understanding developed in history also support learning in other faculties such as DET, computing, food, textile, technology, science and social studies.

Pupils will develop important attitudes, including; an open mind and respect for the values, beliefs and cultures of oothers, openness to new thinking and ideas and a sense of responsibility and global citizenship.

Pupils will aquire breadth and depth in their knowledge and understanding of the past through the study of Scottish, British, European and world contexts in a variety of time periods.
