Modern Languages at Holy Rood RC High School

In the modern languages faculty pupils learn to read, listen, talk and write in French or Italian and willl develop many transferable skills whilst doing so.

Our motivational courses further develop pupils’ linguistic awareness and aim to increase their knowledge of the French and Italian culture and their way of life.

In the Broad General Education (BGE) S1 to S3 pupils learn to talk about and understand information about themselves and others on topics such as family, hobbies and free time, school life, home life, food and drink, clothes and fashion, media and technology.

In the senior school S4 to S6 pupils explore many interesting and exciting themes and issues including, family and relationships, health and lifestyles, technology, environmental concerns, education and lifelong learning, the world of work, customs and celebrations, holidays and travel and also media in both French and/or Italian.
