Holy Rood RC High News

Here is this week’s update of recent events/news from Holy Rood, your Cluster Secondary School.
Our Head Teacher, Mrs Legrix, and two of the School Captains, Neve Kellacher and Jack Rogers, represented the school at a reception hosted by John Swinney (MSP) in Edinburgh Castle to mark the centenary of the 1918 Education Act (Scotland). This event marked 100 years of denominational schools being part of the state education system.
A group of S5 pupils attended Craigmillar Book Festival Event, where Scottish Performance Poet, Leyla Josephine, showcased some of her poetry and then ran a Poetry Workshop specifically aimed at Higher/Advanced Higher English pupils.
5 pupils achieved the Bronze Award in the National Senior Maths Challenge – a fantastic achievement, well done to all who participated.
After a successful start with numeracy and literacy workshops in weeks one and two, week three of our Family Learning Workshops involved our parents and pupils being challenged to an Active Evening. Families participated in teambuilding activities and enjoyed the challenges presented to them.
