Here is this week’s update of recent events/news from Holy Rood, your Cluster Secondary School.
- Our first block of family learning workshops with a focus on literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing is underway. The first session saw pupils and parents working together combining Literacy and Art skills to design a building filled with words representing the people and things which are close to them.
- 30 S6 Business Management pupils attended the annual S6 Excellence in Enterprise Event led by Eileen Black (Business Consultant). Guest speakers from industry shared information about their organisations and the employability skills required in today’s workplace. Pupils completed a range of team-building and business problem solving tasks throughout the day as well as presenting their own business plan for a new Sports Centre as one of their challenges.
- Senior pupils studying Environmental Science visited the Water of Leith Visitor Centre to undertake practical fieldwork in and around the river. Pupils developed ecological enquiry skills and gathered data for assignment work.
- 10 of our S5/6 girls attended the STEM conference for girls at Heriot Watt University whilst S4 Hospitality pupils visited Dominos to learn more about working in the hospitality industry, hygiene and pupils also had the opportunity to make their own pizzas.
