Dear Parents /Carers

I hope you and your families remain safe and well. It’s been another busy week in Holy Rood! Generic announcements are found at the start of this update and specific announcements for each Year Group will follow.

Health and Safety
Please continue to encourage your child to bring a face covering to school each day. All pupils must wear these in corridors and social areas and S4-6 pupils should wear one in classrooms to meet the Scottish Government tier 3 guidelines.

Remembrance Day
On Wednesday this week, our pupils observed a two minute silence at 11am to mark Armistice Day.

Catholic Education Weeks 2020
From the 16 – 30 November we will celebrate Catholic Education in Scotland. Pupils will be exploring this year’s theme, ‘The Way the Truth and the Life’, using the curricular resources produced by The Scottish Catholic Education Service. In RE, pupils have been reflecting on what makes a school Catholic and sharing why they are at a faith school.

Congratulations! Well done to Advanced Higher Art pupils, Simon Krawczyk and Phoebe Vendil. The postcards they designed for the Rock Trust Competition were selected by the Head of Art at Edinburgh College of Art for the November exhibition. This is a huge achievement.

P.E. Kit
Holy Rood P.E. Kit is part of our school uniform and consists of a plain white T shirt with school badge and plain black shorts (logos are not allowed). Parents and Carers can purchase this in school or source their own. The P.E. Kit cost is £13 (or £6.50 per item). This will now be available to purchase in school in the P.E. Faculty for those who missed the opportunity to purchase a kit this week. We do not wish the cost to be a barrier to participation and therefore please contact your child’ s Year Head if you require assistance with this cost.

S1-3 Information
