Dear Parents/Carers

We hope that everyone enjoyed a rest over the February holiday. It was great to see many of our senior pupils taking up the offer of Supported Study in school over the week.

From March onwards, we will send a monthly update to parents. Other communications will be sent to parents of the specific year group as and when required.  We hope that this will allow information to be summarised appropriately and best meet your needs.

Since we have returned to school, we have noticed an improvement in pupils arriving smartly dressed to school.  We have a supply of spare uniform items available and pupils will be given an item of the school stock if they are not dressed appropriately.  A reminder that even if pupils have PE, they must come to school in full school uniform each morning.

S1 will observe Ash Wednesday this week on Wednesday 2 March with Father Jock in the Assembly Hall. This will be the first time full year groups have been able to come together in this way and so we are very pleased that this can now go ahead.  Pupils will receive information during Tutor Time so we can observe the beginning of Lent as a school community.  This year our Lenten fundraising will focus on the food bank and SCIAF Wee Box appeal.

From Monday 28 February, there are a number of changes coming into place based on the new Scottish Government guidance. We will share information regarding these health and safety updates with pupils on Monday during full year group assemblies. These changes are summarised below, and we would also appreciate if you could discuss them with your son/daughter.

  • The requirement to wear face coverings in classrooms has been removed.
  • Provision to wear face coverings in communal areas (corridors, atrium etc) or when in close contact with others remains.  Staff or pupils wishing to continue to wear a face covering should be supported in doing so.
  • Full Year group assemblies etc are now allowed to take place.
  • The requirement to minimise contacts or have pupils sitting side by side facing the front in classrooms has now been removed.
  • Staggered start and finish times are to be removed. Please note S1 pupils will no longer break for lunch and finish the end of the school day 5 minutes early.
  • Physical distancing of 2m between staff/staff and staff/pupils remains.
  • All other mitigations (hand sanitising, enhanced cleaning etc) will remain in place until further notice.

S4-6 Parents and Carers

As we are 6 weeks away from the Easter break, our focus with pupils in the senior school is on ensuring that pupils are well prepared for SQA examinations.  Many pupils are undertaking essential course assignments and assessments.  Pupils are always given adequate notice of these and we appreciate the support and reassurance you are able to offer at home.  Please do not hesitate to contact the appropriate Year Head if we can offer any assistance.

Our Supported Study continues to run every lunch time and after school.  This can be accessed via the following link:- https://tinyurl.com/4vymyzu6

Bus tokens are provided for those pupils who travel by school bus.
