Dear Parents/Carers

Over the past week, we have held pupil briefings with pupils in S1, S2 and S3 regarding our shared high standards and expectations. This includes attending all classes and behaving respectfully towards each other in line with the gospel values of love, forgiveness and justice.

We pride ourselves on our smart school uniform which allows all pupils to identify with our school and outwardly display pride in Holy Rood as a community.  It creates a strong sense of identity and also supports our high standards and school ethos. Whilst majority of our pupils wear our smart school uniform every day, there has been a slight decline in the standard of uniform worn by some pupils.  I write to ask for your support in ensuring that your son/daughter dresses appropriately for school.

Even if pupils have PE, they must come to school in full school uniform each morning.  We have a supply of spare uniform in school and this will be made available to any pupil who requires it.

Below is a summary of our shared expectations for uniform:

· Plain black school (not fashion) skirt or trousers (no jeans)

· Black jumper/cardigan (no logos)

· White school shirt/blouse (i.e. with a collar)

· School tie

· Plain black footwear, preferably shoes (no white or other coloured markings and footwear should be appropriate for school)

· Dark outer jacket/coat (Blazers for S5/6)

Jogging bottoms/jeans are NOT permitted

Pupils should wear a plain black jumper or sweatshirt – logos of any kind are NOT permitted.

We expect all pupils to wear plain black footwear (e.g. black and white converse are NOT permitted)

If you require assistance with any aspect of the uniform, please contact Admin@Holyrood.edin.sch.uk and your email will be forwarded to the appropriate member of staff.

In the new term, we plan to introduce some uniform checks to support our uniform policy.  Thank you very much for supporting us with this aspect of our school identity.
