It’s great to see everyone back in school this week. We are thinking of those young people and their families who are affected by covid and wish them all a speedy recovery.
Holy Rood’s Got Talent, our annual end of term finale was a wonderful treat for all pupils who viewed this virtual experience throughout the school in classrooms. We even had our very own Ant and Dec, aka Shail and Mobeen, who compered the event. The S6 Team who pulled the event together, including auditions and the recording of final performances, all did a wonderful job. Well done to those who participated and the winning act (as voted for by our pupils) was the S5 Boy Band – Matthew Korecki Aguirre, Josh Hoc and Serguisz Jezewski who sang a Polish love ballad in their own unique style! In total we raised £506 for our Advent Charity which is fantastic.

It makes a very good read and I am sure it will make you feel incredibly proud of the young people in our school community. I really hope everyone can find 5 minutes to view it.
From today those pupils who test negatively via a lateral flow device following a household case, can now come to school as long as daily tests for the duration of the family member’s isolation are negative. Please continue to alert the school reception if your child tests positive.
A reminder that Lateral Flow Testing Kits are offered to all pupils during school hours:
S5/6 Mondays S1, S2, S4 Tuesdays S3 Wednesdays
Please note that parental consent is no longer required. Kits are also available from the canteen towards the end of lunch time
It is vital that all pupils bring a face covering to school each day and wears it appropriately. Please remind your child of the importance of wearing his/her face covering so that it covers both the mouth and nose.
Repeat Reminder – Safe Parking
All parents and carers are respectfully requested not to pick up or drop off their child in the school car park. Parents are also asked to assist by not parking close to the school and you may be aware that there are double yellow lines/cycle lanes on Duddingston Road West. Please park away from the immediate entrance to the school gates to avoid overcrowding.
You are respectfully reminded that due to the current circumstances, access for parent and carers will be restricted to maintain the safety of everyone and will be by appointment/invitation only. If you wish to arrange a phone appointment with your child’s Year Head, or if you have a query, please contact the school.
If you have any questions or if we can support you in any way, please contact Admin@Holyrood.edin.sch.uk
Next week you can expect an update of the topics/skills pupils have been covering during term 1 and into term 2. We hope this supports you with conversations about your child’s learning.
