Dear Parents/Carers

It’s been another busy week in school, the atmosphere is purposeful and it’s so good to see everyone back learning and engaging with teachers be it in classrooms, science labs, workshops, the gym halls and in the many open spaces we are blessed to have on our beautiful school campus.

This week I met with a group of S6 pupils who shared their opinions about their learning experiences. Their ideas will feed into our school renewal plan process.

Parent/Carer Consultation

Your views are very important to us and we would be very grateful if you would take just a few minutes to complete a survey on Parents’ Meetings, Reporting and Information Evenings:- https://forms.office.com/r/xhbFC64deX

We hope as many families as possible are able to respond as this will help us best meet your needs. The survey will close on Friday 10 September.

Sponsorship We are delighted to let you know that law firm Allan McDougall Solicitors (www.allanmcdougall.co.uk) has generously agreed to provide sponsorship to our school. This is a long established, award-winning law firm with expertise in personal injury, family and employment law. We will be using their financial support in a number of ways which will benefit our pupils. The firm will also be investing time to support various events throughout the school year. We look forward to working together with them to enhance what we can offer our young people.

COVID vaccinations

The Drop-in COVID vaccination bus will be at Waverly Bridge on Saturday 4 September and Sunday 5 September from 11.00am until 7.00pm. We strongly recommend all pupils over the age of 16 follow Public Health advice and get vaccinated against COVID-19.

LFD Testing

We recommend that pupils participate in Lateral Flow Testing twice weekly. This is offered to all pupils during school hours:- S5/6 Mondays S1, S2, S4 Tuesdays S3 Wednesdays

If your child is under the age of 16, you must complete a Consent Form and send into school with your child. If you provided a consent form for your child last school year there is no need to complete a new form for this year.

Flu Immunisation Programme

During Tutor Time this week, all pupils received a consent form from NHS Scotland for the Flu Immunisation Programme which will take place in school. Please return all forms to school by Monday 6 September.

A reminder that lockers are available for pupil use. Pupils who would like a locker should bring £10 to school. If your child has missed their year group slot, please attend at lunch time on Monday 6 September which is also the allocated slot for S4 – 10.20 – 10.35 & 12.50 – 13.15 (Assembly Hall)

ScotXed Data form

A reminder to return the ScotXed annual data form. Can you please check the information and return the form to school with any amendments by Friday 10 September?

School Resources Amnesty

Please return all school resources, including textbooks and library books to us as soon as possible.

Electric Scooters

Electric scooters should not be brought to school in any circumstances. Police Scotland advise that the use of electric scooters anywhere other than on private land is illegal, they should not be used on roads or public foot paths.

Safe Parking

Parents and carers are reminded to park safely and avoid pick up and drop offs from the school car park. We have become aware that some parents are stopping on the double yellow lines outside the school. This is unlawful and also jeopardises the safety of our pupils. Please park responsibly.

Please follow our school Twitter account for further updates @HolyRoodRCHigh

We wish all our families a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Best wishes

Joan Daly
