It has been great to welcome all our pupils back to school this week. We are very pleased to have everyone together again as a school community. Our pupils look so smart in their school uniform and our S5 and S6 pupils look particularly smart in their blazers, please note that any remaining orders are being processed next week. A special plea to remember that only plain black footwear is permitted as part of our uniform policy. We would ask that all pupils comply with this and if any family is in need of support they should contact the appropriate Year Head.
Our pupils have engaged in their learning really well so far after the long summer break and S1 pupils are telling us that they are enjoying attending new subjects and meeting their new teachers. Many have been enjoying having lunch outside in the lovely weather this week and exploring the campus.
SQA Examination Results
On 10 August, our S4-S6 pupils received their exam results. We are very proud of our pupils’ achievements, especially after such a challenging year and we congratulate them on their successes. Any S5/6 pupils who wish to make changes to courses have been meeting with Mr Campbell, and our School Careers Adviser is offering support on future career choices to senior pupils. Pupils can request a careers appointment by seeing Mr Campbell.
You may be aware that this week the SQA announced that the examination diet will go ahead from 26 April until 1 June 2022. In the coming weeks parents will receive information about proposed dates for Parents’ Meetings and tracking reports.
Health and Safety
On the pupils’ first day back, we held a whole school virtual assembly when we set the scene for the term ahead, including our shared high expectations. Pupils heard important information about our health and safety procedures which are in line with the Scottish Government and City of Edinburgh Council guidance to ensure that we keep everyone safe in school.
Any pupil who is showing symptoms of Covid-19 will be asked by staff to report to Welfare immediately. He/she will be accommodated in our isolation room until pick up can be arranged or parent/carer gives permission to send child home.
• Any pupil in this position will then need to follow Scottish Government Test & Protect guidelines before he/she can return to school.
• Arrange to be tested and continue to isolate until test results available
• Follow direction from health professionals if he/she tests positive. (The family would be contacted by their local health authority as part of Test & Protect).
Lateral Flow Testing
Information relating to LFD Testing at Holy Rood RC High School has been sent to parents via email on 19 August 2021. LFT Testing will continue to be offered to all pupils during school time beginning next week, the exact details of how and when to collect these will be shared with pupils at Tutor Time. We strongly encourage pupils to participate.

The Term Ahead
As we return to school, our main priority is ensuring that all our pupils are fully supported in their learning. We ask that you support us by working alongside us. You can help us by:
· Encouraging your child to speak about his/her day
· Asking if your child has any homework
· Providing a quiet space for him/her to engage in any school work/tasks
· Working alongside us and sharing any important information which will help us support your child with his/her learning
ScotXed Data form
A reminder to return the ScotXed annual data form. Can you please check the information and return the form to school with any amendments by Friday 3 September?

Information relating to Parentpay and how to activate your account will be issued to pupils next week. Until this is set up, pupils should bring cash to buy school lunches.
Our School Environment
As we welcomed our pupils back, we ask that you remind your son/daughter about the importance of respecting the school and local environment. This includes putting litter in bins. A reminder that fizzy drinks and chewing gum are not permitted in our school. S1 pupils must remain on the school campus at break and lunch time.
School Car Park
Thank you for your ongoing cooperation in not dropping off or picking up from our school car park.
