Dear Parent/Carer

With only one week remaining before we change timetable, the Summer term is moving at a very fast pace. All pupils will receive their new timetable on Monday 14 June. On this date, our pupils will be starting new courses and moving forward with their learning. This is an exciting time for everyone as we look forward to a more settled year in school.

Our Senior Assessment Schedule is almost complete, and some of our S4, S5 and S6 pupils are preparing to leave school. Please remind these pupils to return all books/resources. If your child has a locker, they should return the key and receive their £5 deposit. I am sure you will join me in wishing these pupils every success.

Please note that S6 pupils do not need to attend next week unless they have an assessment to complete and should liaise with teachers to ensure they attend when necessary. We would hope that all S6 pupils are able to attend the Leavers’ Mass – details below.

We are very proud of our pupils’ achievements and wish them every success as they move on to the next exciting phase in their lives.

S6 Last Day and Leavers’ Mass

On Friday 11 June, we will say goodbye to our S6 pupils. This amazing group of young people have shown an enormous amount of resilience in the face of so many challenges. After two Lockdowns and the cancellation of SQA exams (twice!) they have been positive and proactive, working alongside staff to ensure the best outcomes. They have made a fantastic contribution to our ethos and embraced all the opportunities afforded to them. We are very much looking forward to celebrating their last day with them with a Leavers’ Ceremony and Mass. We will forward the link so that S6 parents have the opportunity to watch this virtually. Tissues at the ready!

May all of our leavers be blessed with love, joy and happiness. We wish you our warmest wishes for the future and please remember that we are always here for you.

Senior School Induction Days

All pupils who intend to return to school to complete a fifth or sixth year should participate in the Induction Day next week so that important information can be shared regarding the senior phase. Pupils are reminded to wear full school uniform. Mr Campbell (the new S5/6 Year Head) will email a letter regarding the Induction Programme.

Enhanced Transition

We were delighted to be able to invite a group of 30 Primary 7 pupils, from our Cluster Primary Schools, to take part in two visits preparing them for their transition to Holy Rood, in August. Over the two visits, the pupils participated in lessons in Nurture, DET, PE, Science, Social Subjects and also had a visit to our Library. It was great to see the pupils establishing new friendships, engage positively with staff and improve in confidence by the end of their second visit. We are really looking forward to welcoming all our new S1 pupils in August.

Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI)

The YPI Final took place on Thursday 3 June. We are delighted to announce that the winning group secured £3000 for their chosen charity, Steps to Hope. Despite the challenges of doing the presentations virtually, our S3 participants showed creativity, excellent communication skills and team work. The winning presentation was delivered by S3 pupils; Oli Kurcharski, Kacper Malcher and Kuba Fiolna. We are very proud of all the pupils who participated.
