Dear Parents and Carers

I hope you and your families are well. Our pupils have been doing us proud, attendance has been excellent, and everyone is engaging really well in school whilst also trying to complete tasks set to complete at home. It has been unusually quiet in school with greatly reduced numbers due to 2m distancing, thankfully the good weather has meant that pupils have been able to enjoy breaks outside.

The last day of term is Thursday 1 April and it is a full school day. The school holidays begin on Friday 2 April and we return on Tuesday 20 April.

We expect a further government announcement next week regarding what the return of pupils will look like after the Easter holiday. I will confirm any update with you next week.

Blended Learning
As we approach the final week of Blended Learning before the holidays, all S1-6 pupils will attend one allocated full day next week (with the exception of S4-6 pupils in Group B will attend 2 days).

A reminder for all pupils who are learning at home to complete the daily remote learning attendance via a Form which will be available on MS TEAMS within the newly added registration section or via the school website and is also emailed to you on a daily basis

We would ask that your child only attends the school campus on allocated days or if part of the Hub. This includes at lunch or break times and is in line with covid restrictions.

This Lent, we have been raising money for the Schools chosen Charity SCIAF (Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund) and the disabled children of Southern Sudan. We have until the 11 May and the Government will match aid all funds raised, which will double our total monies raised. We will place collection boxes out at the start of the day and those who wish to, can contribute. We do recognise the challenges fund raising presents, and as individual circumstances vary, a welcome alternative would be to remember those who are struggling in your daily prayers. Holy Week is next week and we will ask our pupils to take some time to reflect on the Easter Season and be a part of it.

S4 – 6 Assessment Schedule
S4-6 Assessments which will help to determine your child’s final estimate, will take place after the Easter break. The timetable of assessments will be sent to all parents and carers early next week and we will also communicate clear messages to pupils when we see them in school. Teachers will be giving very clear and specific advice about how pupils can best prepare for assessments.

S4-6 Parents and Carers – Tips for Supporting Good Study Habits
We will be offering some practical tips and advice for pupils and parents about revising and expectations for pupils over the Easter break. This will be emailed next week. We will also be putting together a virtual study tips presentation to further support our pupils at this time.

Parent Council AGM
The AGM of the Parent Council will take place on Mon 26 April at 6pm on Teams. If you wish to attend, please email Admin@Holyrood.edin.sch.uk We do hope that some new parents and carers will be able to join us at this time.
