Dear Parents and Carers
I hope you are all safe and well. We can see that pupils are working hard to engage in remote learning at home, and thank you for all you are doing to encourage your child with this. We do understand that this may pose some challenges and want to remind you that we are here to support you and all our young people. If you would like a member of staff to phone you and offer support with any aspect of learning at home, please complete the short survey.
Return to Face to Face Learning
On Tuesday 2 February we expect the Scottish Government to make an announcement on the return to face to face learning. As soon as we have more information, we will be in touch with you.
Live Teaching Inputs
All pupils in S1-6 can expect to access live teaching inputs and pupils should check Teams on a daily basis for further information. We also ask that pupils remember to check their school email for regular Year Head updates.
It is more important than ever that our young people in S4-6 are continuing with their learning at home at this time as they prepare for SQA Qualifications. The SQA have made it clear that estimates will be determined on demonstrated attainment and our teachers are working hard to make sure that we plan effectively to gather evidence appropriately when we return to school. More information to follow in due course.
We continue to closely monitor pupil engagement and are making supportive phone calls if we feel that any pupil has not been able to engage in their learning as we would expect. Please can we ask you to encourage your son/daughter to complete tasks and assignments as well as engage in the live inputs provided. If there are issues we need to be aware of, please contact the appropriate Year Head.

Holy Rood is proud to be part of the Career Ready Programme for the eighth consecutive year. Eight of our S5 pupils (Callum Mitchell, Jian Segovia, Tovia Ovie, Joshua Jose, Mobeen Khan, Seba Biju, Yvette Mapira and Chloe Riddell) have embarked on this two-year programme which matches pupils with a mentor from industry. The pupils attended an online city-wide launch last week followed by an in school (virtual) launch with their business mentor and parents on Monday. We know from previous experience the immense value this brings to our young people as they develop their employability skills and increase in confidence. We wish them well!
Please note that the Keyworker Hub will not be available over the February break.
Health and Wellbeing
A reminder that Mental Health Support is available from our School Counsellors, Miriam and Sally – they can do 1-1 sessions via phone, email or Teams. Parents are asked to get in touch with the appropriate Year Head if they wish their child to access this support.
