Holy Rood RC High News
- This week, thanks to the generosity of Mercat Tours, our S2 pupils visited a number of different tourist attractions in Edinburgh. The Day in Edinburgh Experience included visits to The Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh Dungeons, Riddle’s Court, Camera Obsura, Yotel amongst many others. The experience enabled pupils to ask industry experts questions and so learn first-hand about the skills required for different careers within the tourist industry . S2 pupils agreed that the day was “amazing!”. We thank Kat Brogan for continuing this partnership with Holy Rood (her former school) and for this exceptional experience offered to our pupils.
- Over the forthcoming February break Holy Rood’s School Librarian, Rachel McCabe, will be visiting our sister school St John Paul II in Tanzania. Her visit has been funded by The British Council and Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning Initiative. She will be accompanied by some Primary School teachers from the Cluster Group and is really looking forward to meeting some of the new staff at the school, working with Mike Knox and sharing her love of reading with the pupils there. Whilst there, she hopes to start a Book Group, organise some creative writing sessions with the senior pupils and continue the Twende Pamoja Partnership’s commitment to global sustainability. We wish Rachel every success.

- Careers Fair 5 Feb – 5pm – 6pm – S3-6 parents and carers are invited to meet employers and representatives from colleges and all the universities in the central belt and also learn about the Senior Course Choice Process
